👷🏻‍♀️ What we do 👷🏻‍♀️

At Emidat, we are building the first climate-native product management system for building material manufacturers. 🙌🏻

Emidat aims to decarbonise building materials, making up 11% of global GHG emissions. We collect data from physical production processes, generate a digital product passport with verified environmental data and make it usable along the value chain. In short: One solution to assess, design, buy, sell and manage products - with environmental impact at the core.

With this, we are building the digital infrastructure to make it faster, easier, and more sustainable to build the world around us.❗

🌎 Why Emidat 🌎

🏛️ On embodied carbon in buildings

Emidat was founded out of the conviction that embodied carbon in buildings is hugely underserved. While everyone is looking to reduce emissions from heating, cooling and electricity in existing building stock (operational carbon), the share of embodied carbon in buildings keeps increasing. 📈 Embodied carbon is emitted at day 0, we can’t reduce it later in the life of a building and the earlier carbon is emitted, the more harmful to our atmosphere.

At the same time, the global building floor area is expected to double by 2060. This means that every month, we are adding the equivalent of New York City’s building stock to the world. 🗽 + we’ll need huge construction material quantities to build out the infrastructure supporting a decentralised renewable energy grid. Beyond GHG emissions, building materials are responsible for the major share of global waste, they have immense biodiversity impact and water usage just to name a few.

Why we should talk about embodied carbon NOW

In short, the environmental impact of building materials won’t stop to matter anytime soon 🚀
