Climate-Native Summit 2026 | Munich, 7 May 2026

The Climate-Native Summit brought together construction product manufacturers, LCA experts, verifiers, and regulatory specialists for a full day of sessions focused on one question: how do you turn environmental data from a compliance obligation into a commercial asset?

The timing was deliberate. The Construction Products Regulation is now in force. Digital Product Passports are coming. Green building requirements are already shaping procurement decisions across Europe. For manufacturers, the window to act ahead of the curve is open, but it is narrowing.

The day covered four themes: using environmental data as a competitive advantage, scaling LCA production without sacrificing quality, designing the next generation of lower-impact products, and understanding what the CPR and DPP will actually require in practice.

What came out of every session, regardless of topic or speaker, was the same underlying message: the manufacturers who build this capability now will be the ones defining the benchmark when the regulation lands. Those who wait will be catching up under pressure.

BLOCK 1: Environmental Data as a Business Value

Lisa opened the summit by putting the scale of the challenge on the table. Every month, the world builds the equivalent of the entire building mass of New York City. Construction generates 30% of global waste, and 75% of the buildings that will exist in 2050 have not been built yet.

The pressure is coming from all directions. Green building certifications, public tenders, corporate sustainability goals, and new regulation are all increasing demand for reliable environmental data. Today, fewer than 1% of construction product manufacturers in Europe have verified LCAs for their products. Under the CPR, 430,000 will need to provide them.

Companies that move early are building an advantage while the market is still taking shape. Those that wait will be catching up under pressure. DPP demand is expected to accelerate sharply between 2028 and 2030. The leaders are already moving.

The DPP is not a new system built from scratch. Most of the data that goes into it, environmental performance, product description, compliance information, and technical data, is already collected as part of the LCA and EPD process. The infrastructure you build today for EPDs is the foundation for your DPP.

Beyond compliance, the DPP forces something that has never happened before in this industry: all product data in one place. ERP, energy management, PIM, technical documentation, and environmental performance all feeding into a single structured source of truth. Manufacturers who build this infrastructure unlock new commercial capabilities: answering customer questions instantly with product data, benchmarking their portfolio against competitors, accessing new international markets, and eventually new business models like product-as-a-service and material take-back programmes.

Environmental data is no longer a sustainability department concern. It is a sales tool, a market access tool, a product development tool, and soon a legal requirement.
